Can confirm this, since updating to 8.10 the Twitter Microblogging plasmoid causes plasma to crash as described in the report. I can configure it but once it tries to log in (or maybe when it receives something from twitter) plasma falls over and recovers.
Running KDE 4.1.3 with Kwin, no Desktop Effects, no Compiz.
