Bug Description

It is fairly known bug and was solutioned for example here:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107256 and marked as FIXED
and here is as NEW, it is over two years old : http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103076 and still it is broken. (KDE 3.5.7)

The bug is in the Akregator when i will open new article in a tab and there is javascript-method for new window/tab. The left click is inactive and this is bad. I can open it only throught right click and select - Open in new window (or middle-click).

Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8ubuntu2)

Clicking a link inside an article tab in akregator, which the status bar says will open in a new window, doesn't open at all.

The only way to open these kinds of links is by right-clicking on them and choosing "open in new tab" from the context menu.

Also, middle-clicking doesn't work either

I can reproduce that bug, but I can't reproduce why you classified it as "crash".

Links that open files/resources in other applications do not work either. When clicking on the link, the usual open dialogue appears and if the "Open with ..." button is pressed (eg. "Open with 'Kate'), Akregator just sits there with its "stop" button enabled and with the loading status at 0%.

Doing a right-click and opening such links in new tabs or in browser windows can be used to work around this. Note that this appears unrelated to JavaScript pop-up behaviour as described in bug #103076.

Happens here with akregator 1.2.2 (KDE 3.5.2), please reopen.
Links with new window target do nothing. I can open them manually with right click/new tab or external browser, or middle click to external browser, but left click do nothing... It should open new tab (preferably) or in the same tab. Setting konqueror to open popups in new tab has no effect here.

Still not fixed in 1.2.3 (KDE 3.5.3) can someone reopen this or I have to fill new bug?

Still an issue in KDE4?
Also, removing the akregator tag, as this will come up in searches for akregator anyway.

I will reopen this bug. Don't understand why this is not fixed. Another explanation:

When I double-click on an article in akregator then I don't get the browser. There are settings in akregator configuration that determine what should happen after such a double-click but they are not enforced. Actually, nothing happens after a double-click.

Let me know if there is anything still unclear with my description but there is definitely a bug there.

One workaround is to click "Complete Story" in the message box. But I still think it's a bug.

Well I'm running gnome but my akregator version is 1.3.1 (KDE 4.1.2). My gnome desktop is running a KDE demon so I think I can say I'm running KDE4.

Ok, then somebody should probably go to the KDE bug and say that this is still an issue in KDE4 then.

I'm running Akregator 1.3.1 (KDE 4.1.2) and I still have some issues with this. There's two different things here:

1) if you double click on an article then akregator opens the link in the external browser even though I have the settings in "Configuration-->Browser" that "left-click" should open a tab. I think that's a bug.
2) the other thing is clicking the link "Complete Story" inside the message box below. It generally opens the link in a new tab, good. But I have, strangely enough, one feed where that does not work and that is the cairo-dock feed
http://www.cairo-dock.org/rss/bg_messages.xml

Right-clicking on links and choosing "Open in Tab" always works, but there are still some problems with the left-clicks (on links).

I just noticed that this is a REALLY old bug, but I still think it should be reopened. The corresponding bug from launchpad is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+bug/119416

1. This is an unrelated issue. Please open a separate bug report if it still happens.

2. That feed doesn't seem to exist any more, so I can't test it. Do you have another example it happens with?
