I'm having the same issue. Kdenlive crashes on startup whenever frei0r is installed.

But for me none of the fore mentioned work-arounds seem to work.

I completely removed kdenlive, frei0r, the kdenlive directory and the .kde directory.
After that I ran the kdenlive wizard before reinstalling frei0r, but it didn't solve the problem. Kdenlive keeps crashing at startup.
Removing frei0r is not an option, it limits the available effects in kdenlive; many common effects (like adjusting contrast) are unavailable.
