Bug Description

The extra backends package is present to support for additional backends. The package description claims support for CHM files among others, however opening a chm file with okular results in an error that it could not be opened.

I have also compiled kde from sources and okular does support chm files, hence i consider this a packaging bug.

libchm is in universe, okular/kdegraphics in main. This needs further evaluation whether we can link against libchm at all.

also it does not support ePub format as claimed. However, as with libchm1 it is also in universe. Therefore the package only adds support for djvu and tiff. There should be a Universe package that is a drop in replacement that supports all the formats.

Are there any news on this?
I would like to file a bug to create an okular-extra-backends-universe package which contains chm and epub support. Is there any point to this?

I am looking to use Okular on epub files on my Windows XP computer. According to the product site, "ebook tool" is needed for it. I downloaded "ebook too", but could not figure out how to install it to be used with Okular. I got as far as with compiling ebook tool with cmake, but it's missing some files from Borland's compiler, which is suppose to be free. I have searched the site high and low, but all the links that I came across were broken. Frankly, even if I find the compiler, I probably would not know exactly what to do. I don't even know which directory to put the ebook tool files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
