Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

Hi,

I'm using various laptops with Kubuntu Edgy, some set to use French Canadian and others set to use Spanish. On all these systems, I can observe that some particular and rare parts of KDE menus or dialogs are still in English. I don't think that it is due to an incomplete translation since in previous Kubuntu/KDE versions there was no such problem and the functions for which these problems occur are basic ones, not obscure ones for which no translation would have been provided yet.

Up to now, I can point to the following menus and dialogs:

- contextual menu for an icon on the desktop, for the commands copy, cut, delete;
- name of de devices under "save as" or "open" dialog box;
- dialog box for unlocking a session or swithing to an other user, that appears once a session has been locked and someone touches the sreen or mouse.

Thanks.

Thanks for your comment. Ubuntu gets its translations from http://launchpad.net/rosetta. This is the place where translation teams
actively work on making Ubuntu more useful in their language. If you want to change a certain text, Rosetta is the right place for it.

Thanks again for helping translate Ubuntu!

Hi,

I think there's a misundurstanding. This report is not about a portion of Kubuntu/KDE that has not been translated by the translation team. It's about a problem with the display of some portions of translated text, in French, in Spanish and probably in all other non-English languages.

I did check and can confirm, as an exemple, that the dialog box for unlocking a session or swithing to an other user, that appears once a session has been locked and someone touches the sreen or mouse, is completely (100%) translated in French. See: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/edgy/+source/kdebase/+pots/kdesktop/fr/+translate

However, the dialog box still appears in English in Kubuntu Edgy.

Other problematic portions are so obvious (eg. "copy", "cut", "delete" terms for contextual menus for KDE desktop icons) that it is quite sure that they also have been translated.

Again, it is not a missing translation problem, but a display problem that seems to affect only Kubuntu Edgy. Kubuntu Dapper was (and it's still) working fine for that mather.

Since this report has been rejected, based on the wrong perception that I was reporting a missing translation problem, I have opened up a new one:
