I am having the same problem. Running either Mageia 2 or Open SuSE 12.2. If I connect to my NAS drive using cifs then the NAS automatically powers down, Dolphin freezes. konqueror does not, so I can at least use the latter.
umount -l //share
does not fix Dolphin's problem, although it does free up the rest of the computer. I can find no way of freeing up Dolphon without a reboot. It's obviously not a Kubuntu issue!
