IMO this autosaving of geometries should be removed from KMainWindow altogether! This is simply annoying! No matter if it's about Konsole, Konqueror (a popup and you get postcard sized windows from now on...), Dolphin or what ever app. I also can't follow the argument that it should be easier for new users. There are regular cases where a window needs to be resized from it's default size (which doesn't exist) to accomplish just a single operation, and afterwards you want the default again, but you get tiny, huge or what ever sized windows instead. So working around it in Konsole (please do!) is an option, but no general solution for the problem.
