Just bought an MX1000 some weeks ago. Indeed, the only way to make the extra buttons (including thumb buttons!) work is to use imwheel (or equivalent software) and remap them to some keyboard events.

That's nice, working great and full of possibilities, but far from easy for new users. They would expect those buttons to work out of the box, IMHO.

This seems to be a Qt limitation, and if the documentation is up to date on this subject, it still is in Qt 4 : http://doc.trolltech.com/4.0/qt.html#MouseButton-enum (I haven't looked at the source).

Perhaps you, KDE folks, will be able to push TrollTech in the right direction ?
