Has there been any confirmation or even an indication that kde 4 will fix this problem? It may still be an issue. If it hasn't been fixed in kde 4 its unlikely to be fixed in kde 3... anyway, KDE is still planning to release a 3.5.9 (for some reason) so if there is a workaround, it may still be included in kde 3.
