I re-installed my system to see on which update step this bug arrives. It comes after upgrading system from Kubuntu backports ppa.
Steps to reproduce (exactly what I did): 1. Clean install Kubuntu 12.04.3. 2. Update kernel to 3.8: sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-raring reboot 3. Enable Kubuntu backports ppa: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports 4. Update system: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade reboot 5. After login check if plymouth is running: ps xa | grep plymouthd
