Found a temporary solution that uses the gnome-volume-manager. I have made a script only containing the line gnome-volume-manager and put it in:
~/.kde/Autostart
Now both my Maxtor disk and iPod are mounted on boot up. But I still get the error in Disk & Filesystems module:
The module Disk & Filesystems could not be loaded.
The diagnostics is:
Possible Reasons: * An error occured during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module * You have old third party modules lying around
