Misdetected keyboard cannot be changed manually during install

Bug Description

When installing Ubuntu 5.10 on my ageing Dell lattitude. I ask the installer to
identify my keyboard, and press the 'æ' key, the installer identifies my
keyboard as Turkish F. When I then go back and pick danish manually and proceed
in the install, the keys are now mapped at what seems to be random. I can only
surmise that my keyboard is still mapped as "Turkish F".
