When preferences is clicked, the browser shuts itself abruptly
Ubuntulite is version 0.8

Ubuntulite uses the Kazehakase package from the repository thus should be filed against it.

I am working on backporting 5.4 from Ubuntu's developmental branch which does not have this bug.

If Kazehakase from Ubuntu Intrepid doesn't have this important crash bug then maybe you should request hardy-backport?
