For anyone trying to figure out what's broken,

$ git diff debian/2.02+dfsg1-12ubuntu2.1 debian/2.04-1ubuntu12|diffstat

Using the repo from https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/grub/+git/ubuntu/

Unfortunately produces a 392k diff. The tags don't appear to share a common ancestry so 'git log' is similarly useless
