Debian distributed the update already if I am not mistaken. I haven’t heard of any regression. Also I don’t recall anything in the past where updated microcode updates cost regressions. So I don’t see the high caution is justified compared to any other package.
Anyway, for what it’s worth, I tested this on a TUXEDO Book BU1406 with Ubuntu 17.04.
