Inkscape is in the main repository component and (as I understand it) a couple of things need to be fixed with translations in the inkscape.desktop file.
1. Add the X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain key under the [Desktop Entry] group. This is appended to inkscape.desktop by "debian/rules install". However, a recent patch to the desktop.in file (LP: #676886) is now applied by dpatch, which adds a new group to the desktop file. This means that the translation domain key is added to the wrong group in the file.
2. Strip all translations from the desktop file and add them to the translation pack. This does not happen at present. Take a look at the installed file, and there are several translation strings present.
