Bug Description

Inkscape version: Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 (Apr 21 2014)
OS - ArchLinux: : 3.14.1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Apr 14 21:01:08 CEST 2014 i686 GNU/Linux
Window Manger: WindowMaker

Launch inkscape
Click Help menu
select FAQ (or "Ask a question", or "Keys and Mouse Reference")

Inkscape pops up a window stating:

Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected.

The text field in the window states:

    (process:3296): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

The help information does actually appear in my browser (Firefox), but since my browser window was off in a different workspace, I didn't notice it right away.

Not sure what issue is actually reported for Inkscape here (is user expectation that Inkscape somehow forces the browser to move its window with the just opened tab into the current workspace and raise it to the top, or for Inkscape to suppress/ignore any warning returned by applications launched via the extension system (e.g. for the items in the help menu)?

The critical warning is likely from Firefox (see e.g. bug #1160569) - nothing to be fixed in Inkscape itself.

no, I do not expect Inkscape to manipulate my window manager's
workspaces. Since I have never encountered a glib critical error
when running firefox (or any other application), I didn't think to
attribute this issue to firefox.

I didn't even realize (until much later) that Help items would
appear in a browser window as opposed to an Inkscape window, and I
certainly have no understanding of the Inkscape extension system.
Perhaps stating which application actually generated the warning
(instead of the cryptic "the script executed") would have made me
realize that this is not an Inkscape bug.

Thanks,
Eric Nicolich

Reproduced on Ubuntu 14.04, with Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939 (Jan 22 2014).
Inkscape and Firefox were on the same workspace. The error popped up while the website appeared as a new tab in firefox.
I'm not sure whether it is somehow relevant for "sys_page_size", I have swap disabled (due SSD and plenty of RAM).

Changed in inkscape:
