Maverick released with 0.98.1ubuntu6, which contains appropriate Debian changes for MODULES=dep

For Lucid easiest workaround is to use MODULES=most, check the settings with:
egrep -r MODULES /etc/initramfs-tools
and delete eventual driver-policy file from the installer with MODULES=dep.

Thanksfully in newer installs it should just work.
