I've been running Dapper for a while, and the most recent kernel that works is 2.6.15-13. After that, I get the same problem (with kernels -15 and -16).

Incidentally, I believe this was right about the time that I started getting a graphical grub menu. Perhaps while changing over to the graphical grub menu, something was accidentally changed in the kernel settings or init process..?

I still have my initrd's and kernel, if it would be useful..
