2.6.27-7.14 does not fix the problem for me. I also have an HP Pavilion, (model dv9810us), AMD X2, nvidia, &c, &c. I think I neglected to mention that detail before.
Forcing "ac" to load in initrd still works, but none of the other ACPI modules have the same effect. I don't know where to go with this bug from here.
