in 9.04 ist was possible to disable the display of the Username or exchange it with the "real name" and disable the annoying "Are you sure to shutdown"-dialog via a configuration dialog attached to the right-click/context menu of the session-menu or whatever the name of the applet for user switching/shutdown was then. IMHO removing a configuration dialog (and - at least in part - the matching configuration options) from one release to another is clearly a regression as it suprises and frustrates the user. Wether papercut or not it definitly is not a request for a new feature...
