Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
In adium when you receive a new message the dock icon constantly flashes until you check the message. This is great for times when you may not be looking at your computer or step out of the room.. etc. With Empathy you get one popup bubble and the indicator-applet becomes colored in with gray. The indicator applet really doesn't grab your attention as it changes color for many reasons(gwibber, email). This means that unless your looking at the screen or have empathy visible you will miss the new message. This is fine for email but not for IMs.
So I'm requesting that empathy gets some kind of persistent new message option, that will draw my attention even if empathy is nowhere on my screen, while not being annoying(like something that steals focus). Since gnome doesn't use a Dock and repeating or never ending notification bubbles would be messy, perhaps having the indicator applet repeatedly flash a loud color when new chat messages are received would be a good option. I don't know that's just a suggestion, the main point is that this problem needs to be worked out.
