Bug Description
Its very annoying that the indicator-applet does not visually show there are pending messages to be read. As a result I constantly have to manually click the icon to display if new messages have arrived. When I often get around to it, I find people have IMed me over Empathy which I have not notice at the time.
What I suggest is to either change the color of the indicator-applet if there are pending messages and/or display the number of unread messages next to the icon.
