I guess it is still not fixed. I tested with ubuntu 14.04 LTS updated on freemind 0.9. I am trying to type telugu text which is an indic text. I don't see the text if I try to type in freemind but if i copy text from another application like gedit or kate it shows the text. I think the bug still exists.
