By the way, there is still no icons displayed on Ubuntu 7.10 x86_64 (which was the initial issue of this bug).

 ldd libimgicon.so|grep not
        libgnomevfs-2.so.0 => not found
        libgnome-2.so.0 => not found

Ubuntu misses these 32bit libraries so that the component is not loaded.
