Bug Description

1) Lubuntu 12.04 i386 installed to hdd
2) htop 1.0.1-1
3) In my experience with Xubuntu 11.10-12.04 htop opens from the menu no problem, no blank terminal screen as I have experienced with Lubuntu 11.10-12.04. I expect the incorrect blank terminal result in Lubuntu.
4) When trying to open htop from the menu selection system tools/htop a blank non functioning terminal appears. When opening terminal and typing htop, htop is displayed properly. The htop issue I am describing has been an issue all Lubuntu installs I have made. I have attached a file with 3 screencast showing my experience with htop in Lubuntu.
I have attached an additional screencast file from a different machine for further verification of this error.

I confirm the same issue on Lubuntu 14.10 (amd64 version).

The same issue occurs for Accessories -> Byobu Terminal, which is also a console application that should execute 'env TERM=xterm-256color byobu' but does not; only an empty terminal shell is shown.

It looks like the underlying problem is that for console-only applications, the execution string is not used. Are there any desktop applications with Terminal=true that works?

This is not a bug with htop. It was also reported below with using byobu. Therefore I am changing the product to lxterminal given what I saw reproduced in the webm's that are attached.

affects: htop (Ubuntu) → lxterminal (Ubuntu)
