I have found a solution that completely stops it from crashing. It's not an Ideal solution but it works for me.
Remove the acpid by typing this: sudo apt-get remove acpid
I have been running my computer like this for a few weeks now without it crashing at all.
This still loads the acpi module when booting and you can prove this by looking in /proc/acpi
Most acpi events still work but you will have to load the button and battery modules manually or add in /etc/modprobe.d/ if you want them.
