Comment 2 for bug 55000

I have the same problem -- I'm not sure if it's anything to do with it but when Gnome is loading the fourth icon which used to appear on the start-up splash screen no longer does. It was the one with a box, a CD and something else (only appeared very quickly). Could something I've installed on top of the base install have turned off or damaged auto-recognition? I can provide a list of added packages if needed.
