Alright, after installing kernel ubuntu 2.6.12-9-386, i can confirm that this was not a bug (at least for me). All the
removable drives now show up on the desktop with a icon and the respective applications launch by themselves.
Thanks for all the time, and hopefully people that were having trouble have to just use the default brezzy kernel(s).
