i also have trouble with mounting, that relates to pmount is not executing. BUT,
pmount is not executing because it thinks i'm not in the plugdev group which is
wrong. i did add myself to quite a couple of groups, but NONE of my groups is
showing up when doing a "prompt: id --groups" to list my groups.
the system seems to ignore the /etc/group file completly.
bizarre,
the lack of proper groupmember ship does prevent me from actually administrating
the machine as non-root user. and i would prefer not log into my X Desktop as root.
