Are you really sure that the new pmount fixes this problem? I don't see the
connection, but if it helps, let's try it out: Can you please download

  http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/p/pmount/pmount_0.9.6-1_i386.deb

install it with

  sudo dpkg -i pmount_0.9.6-1_i386.deb

and check if it works?
