Sorry Matt. Didn't know that - this is the 1st bug I ever submitted for Ubuntu.
Thought if I could reconfirm that the problem exhisted,
after I had done several things, like described by others here, then that could
be reason enough to change status.

Might I suggest a change then to bugzilla. If the originator should not be the
one to change the status for the reported bug,
then all follow-on options shuld be greyed out for that person whom submitted
the bug. Therefore ensuring that the submitter
not able to throw in additional (and un-needed) confussion.
