xev output looks normal (one down, one up event for each keypress). The output of acpi_listen doesn't show any events that acpid/acpi-support react to by default.

Please try stopping acpid (sudo service stop acpid) and test again, and see whether this makes any difference (I don't expect that it will).

Please also attach the output of 'lshal'.
