This problem occurs in Intrepid Alpha 6 also.
I installed from a USB flash disk - which went ok. I don't have a CDROM or DVD connected.
I see the line /dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 in /etc/fstab
After commenting out the line and reinserting the USB stick, I am able to see its contents.
