Gutsy, updated from Feisty w. Kubuntu. Hal is trying to start on system init, but can't do it. I can start it manually with no error messages.
Syslog doesn't show anything weird, only messages similar to these (I guess they are the result of hal's HW scan or something after manually starting hal:)
