su99's workaround works ok. I have also seen the weirdness with my T60 and suspend only when shutting the lid. I have double checked that I do have Power Management set to suspend when the lid closes. Every second or third closing seems to work, but every once in a while it will not suspend when I close the lid. It will suspend fine if I make it.
