Sorry then ozzyboy, I can offer no more. Except maybe the fact that just about any right click or menu click after boot will stop the flashing.
Building a modified kernel will get you up on both cam and ports, but I think it will almost certainly have a performance impact. My take on the mod being trialled at 435352 is that it significantly slows responses to URBs and in turn that'll slow anything USB related. But I'm not sure of that. It might be worth asking some of the people involved over there.
