I have this exact same problem. Trying to copy and paste a video file off of the card (which is in the camera) results in a progress bar that lasts a long time and it never copies.

When I try to copy the file from the command line I get:
cp -v 100_3676.MOV ~/Desktop/
`100_3676.MOV' -> `/home/robert/Desktop/100_3676.MOV'
cp: cannot open `100_3676.MOV' for reading: Input/output error

Using gphoto2 -P it downloads fine.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit.
