However, the latest update doesn't fix the logout/login problem. So this bug cannot be closed as a result. I guess ~/.gvfs isn't properly unmounted on logout, so gvfs-fuse-daemon refuses to start on subsequent login. Sorry for bringing in the unrelated problem of daemon segfault into this bug report :/.
