Update, same thing happens when trying it from Caja (using the "Connect to Server..." option):
Enter server info without entering username and password and hit connect. It will prompt for keyring password; once entered it will tell you to verify user credentials on the connect to server dialog. If you cancel, and try again, it will succeed without the keyring prompt.
