This might be useful;
By looking at server transfer logs it appears that the download succeeds. If I don't skip the file when the error message appears and allow it to finish downloading, the file is downloaded completely.

md5sum confirms this:

b4191c1d1d6fdf358c154f8bf86b97dd ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso
