If you don't want to learn how to create a debdiff that's fine; it also helps to just attach a patch from upstream.

A debdiff or attaching the upstream patch (or a pointer to it) in launchpad makes it easier for us to review and integrate changes, and hence gets more chances of being quickly merged.
