Thank you for your bug report. This might possibly be a "revival" of bug #287689 (I assume you use the standard gthumb version from the lucid repositories).
Could you please check the name of the gphoto2 directory in the .gvfs mount in your home directory (with the french locale), e.g. open a terminal and type
ls ~/.gvfs
This name should start with "gphoto2", if it does not, the unmounting by gthumb fails (and you have to do it manually).
