Hello, i have the same problem, after i was trying to install Fedora 12 64bits on my first drive with GPT partitioning scheme with Ubuntu 9.10 64bits already installed on /dev/sda1 (i used Gparted to create GPT partitions).
I asked Fedora 12 grub to install in /dev/sda3 and NOT in /dev/sda, but i was unable to boot computer anymore after this.
Then i tried to reinstall grub-pc into /dev/sda, with livecd command "grub-setup -d /media/Karmic/boot/grub/ -m /media/Karmic/boot/grub/device.map /dev/sda" and got this error message:

grub-setup: warn: This GPT partition label has no BIOS Boot Partition; embedding won't be possible!
grub-setup: warn: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and its use is discouraged.
grub-setup: error: If you really want blocklists, use --force.

I decided then to reinstall Karmic with livecd, and got a grub crash once trying to update whole system, with similar error message related to "GPT partition label has no BIOS Boot Partition" ...
