Yes it was with Vanilla Ubuntu Karmic using Grub 2.
So the bug is not only Mythbuntu.

I had a company administred Notebook, for which i have admin rights, but the M$ recovery console asked for the *overall* administrator pasword... just to fix that dam***d MBR and boot record??!.
I finally fixed, after many, many wrong attempts, the MBR and the partition boot record without any password using Linux+Testdisk from C. Grenier.
