Hi,

"dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc" showed many default values, incl. /dev/sda1. But i do not have any sort of dualboot (never had), so i changed this to /dev/sda and now it works again.

After upgrade to 14.04 ubuntu decided to grub-install on /dev/sda1 (my root partition) instead of sda?

I don't know if this makes sense in a dual boot env, but it is useless in a single boot environment with only linux installed.
