Affected, here, on a ACER Aspire S3 with dual boot Windows 7 + xubuntu 13.10. Encountered the symptoma when upgrading to 14.04. Plainly rebooting on a Live xubuntu 13.10 USB and applying boot-repair solved the problem for me, but i suspect, if i understand correctly what has been said here, that i will encounter the same issue when i do my next update. Do i understand correctly that it will be enough to do "dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc" before updating again?
