(psusi) has given very helpful information. I assume in most cases people have added a new harddisk and grub is now on the wrong drive.
In my case I had to switch to bios boot options with <F12> and select my "old" /dev/sda as boot device.
Back in Linux :-) I followed the steps from (psusi) now everything works fine.
Maybe some documentaion regarding grub2 reinstallation should be enhanced
