In two days I have found two workarounds:

Workaround 1:
At boot, do not select "install" directly. Instead, load the live desktop, and from there, click on the icon to install.

Workaround 2:
Use the alternate CD (when downloading from the Ubuntu website, check the "alternate" checkbox)
