Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

system: 10.4 beta 2

The log said:
DEBUG: retrieving grub-installer 1.49ubuntu10
grub-installer: chroot: cannot execute grub-install: No such file...

Reinstallation of grub failed!

After swichting to a shell I found that
/usr/bin/grub-install does NOT exist but
/usr/bin/grub-installer does!

A workaround was a symbolic link but changing the system call
accordingly in the installer will be the proper solution.

No, calling grub-installer would be entirely incorrect here. grub-install is supposed to exist in the target system that you're rescuing - you're looking in the installer environment, which is different.

Had you actually removed the grub-pc (or perhaps grub) package?

affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) → grub-installer (Ubuntu)
